Our lives are governed by a high proportion of unconscious patterns. Our behaviour, moods, energy levels and general happiness and productivity are rules by what is happening inside us. Most of the time, our thoughts are automatic, automatically negative, automatically self-critical, automatically too busy. And because this is something that has always been……. It remains so.
We don’t question it, we just carry on regardless bungling along repeating the same patterns of behaviour everyday not even aware that we could find more time, and be happier each day.
By ‘free writing’ every morning, these unconscious though patterns are transmuted from within us onto paper. The very action of writing whatever comes spilling forth releases space in our minds. It can be surprising what we write, but these writings are not for re-reading or analysing, they are a tool with which to clear some clutter from our psyches. Yes, you will probably notice a theme to your scribblings, yes this theme is something you can become aware of and work to understand and change. The main thing is to let the writings babble, let them rumble, let them rip. Even if you begin writing over and over again ‘I don’t know what to write’ I promise by the end of the first lot of pages you will have surprised yourself.
So for those of you that know the benefit of de-cluttering their homes…begin your day by de-cluttering your mind. Find some space within that can be filled with something useful, positive and in the moment. Something that contributes to bringing a smile onto your face when usually the ‘to do list’ would have been the prominent thought.
So…
Every morning before you step out of bed, reach for your notepad and your pen and allow your unconscious thoughts to pour out of you onto the paper. Three pages in all, every morning.
When are you going to start de-cluttering your mind??
